Your Diet & A Dog: Commonality

What if I said trying to sort out your diet is like getting a dog?

You think about getting a dog for a while. You start to buy accessories. And then that day comes where you get the dog. You actually took action. And now you have changed your routine for the better to accommodate this outsider.

Yes there's ups and downs to having a dog, but the majority is a positive experience that you do not regret at all. Your life becomes better.

This is the EXACT same with getting in shape, sorting out your diet, and looking after yourself after years of putting it off.

  1. Regular Meals and Portions

Just like dogs, humans thrive on routine. Feeding your dog at the same time every day (which many of us do) helps to regulate their digestion and they become hungry at the right times. It's the exact same for humans. Get into a routine of eating that you can maintain. Most of us know how much to give a dog when we feed them. If that's weighed or if it's a full cup. You take more care about the portion size for your dog than you do for yourself.

My tip is to eat 4 times a day. Not 3. Spread it out over the day evenly. You won't become hungry and your body will function incredibly more efficient.

  1. Balanced Nutrition

A healthy diet for a dog should include a balance of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Similarly, humans need a balance of macronutrients to stay healthy. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables provides essential vitamins and minerals, while lean protein and healthy fats keep the body functioning at its best.

  1. Hydration

You try to encourage your dog to drink water, especially after exercise. yet, you sip on Coca Cola and become more and more dehydrated - ruining your energy levels.

Water is essential for the proper functioning of our organs and for regulating body temperature. Drinking plenty of water can also help to stave off hunger pangs, keeping us feeling fuller for longer. And please please please, include some electrolytes to ensure full hydration. Head to our website to see the ones we recommend.

  1. Avoiding Overindulgence

We love to give our dogs treats here and there right? But we actually feel guilty when we give too much. You wouldn't give them the whole packet would you? It's the same for yourself, yet some of you sit there with a full packet of biscuits. While the occasional treat is fine, overindulging in high-calorie, high-sugar, or high-fat foods can lead to weight gain, digestive problems, and a host of other health issues.

You want your dog to grow up healthy & active, yet you keep destroying your own life.

  1. Building a Relationship

Looking after a dog requires time, effort, and patience. You're invested in the process. It’s important to build a relationship with your pet, getting to know their personality and their needs. Similarly, looking after your diet requires time, effort, and patience. It’s important to build a relationship with your body, getting to know its unique needs and working to meet them. Trial and error and plan ahead.

  1. Consistency

Dogs thrive on routine, and humans do too. Consistently making healthy choices is key to maintaining good health. This means choosing healthy foods and exercising regularly, even when it’s tempting to take the easy way out. Building healthy habits takes time and effort, but the rewards are worth it.

You know what. I bet your dog would be proud if it saw you make drastic changes to your own diet to become healthier & happier.

Imagine the long walks you could do together if you were in shape and had your nutrition on point.

Start to look after yourself like you would look after a dog and begin to Thrive.
